The NMS Archive Unit is pleased to announce the release of an updated Archive Finding Aid of all licences that produced archaeological reports in their collection. The purpose of this document is to assist researchers to quickly determine if a site they are interested in has a report on file in the NMS Archive.
This Finding Aid represents 35,527 licences from the 1930s onwards, with 45,872 corresponding reports available for consultation via the NMS Archive. Over 2,000 licences are issued by the NMS on an annual basis with each producing a report of findings for public access.
Information on how to access this reports collection can be found under our Collections section of the website.
If a specific licence number does not appear on the Finding Aid then the NMS Archive Unit may be either currently processing a report for public access, or there is no report currently on file in the collection. Any reports currently being processed will be included in the next release of the Finding Aid.
