{"id":5845,"date":"2026-02-25T07:18:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T07:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/?p=5845"},"modified":"2026-02-25T07:26:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T07:26:19","slug":"new-archive-finding-aid-for-reports-on-archaeological-investigations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/ga\/about-us\/corporate-information\/news\/new-archive-finding-aid-for-reports-on-archaeological-investigations\/","title":{"rendered":"New Archive Finding Aid for Reports on Archaeological Investigations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The NMS Archive Unit is pleased to announce the release of an updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/collections-and-publications\/publications\/archaeological-reports-finding-aid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Archive Finding Aid<\/a> of all licences that produced archaeological reports in their collection. The purpose of this document is to assist researchers to quickly determine if a site they are interested in has a report on file in the NMS Archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/collections-and-publications\/publications\/archaeological-reports-finding-aid\">Finding Aid<\/a> represents <strong>35,527<\/strong> licences from the 1930s onwards, with <strong>45,872<\/strong> corresponding reports available for consultation via the NMS Archive. Over 2,000 licences are issued by the NMS on an annual basis with each producing a report of findings for public access.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information on how to access this reports collection can be found under our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/collections-and-publications\/collections\/access-and-deposit-of-collections\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.ie\/collections-and-publications\/collections\/access-and-deposit-of-collections\/\">Collections<\/a> section of the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a specific licence number does not appear on the Finding Aid then the NMS Archive Unit may be either currently processing a report for public access, or there is no report currently on file in the collection.
